WATTS' mission is to break the cycle of homelessness one life at a time. We do this by empowering individuals to re-enter the workforce and connecting individuals to the resources needed to be as self-sufficient as possible, all while providing safe, temporary shelter during extreme weather. Donations and support from our community (such as yourself) make it all possible - THANK YOU!
The guests we serve at WATTS are our friends and neighbors - almost 80% of guests are local, meaning they were born here/grew up in Winchester, Frederick, or Clarke counties. In recent years, we've also seen an increase in individuals coming from neighboring Shenandoah, Page, and Berkeley counties. Regrettably, at least 75% of guests cite not being able to find affordable housing as the main contributing factor of their homelessness.
"Hopelessness and uselessness are predominant feelings when you're in this situation," said former WATTS guest, Tom. "WATTS gives us a degree of hope and worth... a feeling of belonging when we are often treated as outcasts." Another former guest, Bill, added, "For all of these volunteers to give their time to help us means a LOT to everyone in the program." Ricky affirmed that sentiment, adding, "I'm not sure I would have made it through the cold - without the help of WATTS, I may not be living right now. WATTS has truly been a blessing."

You can be a part of bringing hope back into someone's life. From temporary overnight shelter, a warm dinner and good breakfast, to daytime shelter and access to resources such as:
- bathrooms, shower, toiletries
- clothing and shoes
- snacks and drinks
- a place to charge a phone and sit without being trespassed
- help with housing and job searches; Centralized Intake
- obtaining ID or copies of birth certificates
- rehab information and transport
- applications for SNAP or Medicaid/Medicare
- medical advocacy and help picking up prescriptions at Northwestern,
